The Scottish “swam” their way to Oakville today. On arrival, the skies held back and the sun burst through on a few rare occasions. The field, or what could be safely called a swamp, was as much a factor in the game as the opposition.
The game started well with a great hard line run try by Liv. Adjusting to the mud and wet conditions, passes were solid for the most part and the support play continues to improve. Zoey after good hard work at the breakdown powered over for try number 2 before our “super sub” Carolynna – who actually started the game made it try number 3. Good shape and continued support saw the Scottish in the Cru territory for almost the entire 1st half.
The second half began but we fell into a 2nd half slumber and let the Cru back in through poor discipline and resulting penalties. Robyn, on the outside slowly got her speed up to run around their winger and in for try 4 and a bonus point – woo hoo. A lapse in defence let the Cru in for a try but then mother nature spoke up and proceeded to “drown” the pitch with rain and to add an exclamation mark to it, “she” added some thunder and lightning. As such the game was called for safety reasons.
As always there are things to be tweaked and worked on but progress is noticeable in commitment to defence and again, great support work with ball in hand. MVP, as nominated by the team, was……Zoey. Zoey had another strong game with great defence, looking for the offloads, being there in support and many great runs”
